Transposed from ancient myth to the present day,
Clytemnestra,
Iphegenia,
Aegisthus and
Agamemnon struggle to escape their original destinies and return to life. Occupying a grotesque, bizarre and darkly comic world, Leah Vitali's award-winning play turns the conventional characters and stories surreally on their heads. Evil Clytemnestra is 'the woman with a man's heart'. Enveloped in blood and violence her quest to rediscover love and passion reaches a surprising and spectacular climax.
Starring Sarah Douglas (Superman I and II, Falcon Crest) as Clytemnestra and leading Greek actor Stratos Tzortzoglou as Agamemnon.
ROAST BEEF was awarded the Greek State Award for Best New Play.
English Translation by Sozos Loizou.
